Alan Stevens MBE

A defence  equipment and support consultant who started out in employment as a production and mechanical design engineer in 1976. In 1983 I followed the majority of my family into the Army, and I signed up as aeronautical engineer. In my 22 years military service I saw operational tours in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Bosnia plus some other tours taking me to a few other more exotic regions of the world.

Operating and managing teams of upto 60 personnel and fleets of air and ground based equipments in arduous conditions all over the world, was ideal experience to use later in my career in the highly challenging arena of defence procurement. I concluded my military career as a team leader for a technical support team supporting the procurement of the Apache Helicopter for the Army.

Leaving the Army and working for a Bristol based defence procurement consultancy firm I continued to deliver support to Defence Equipment Support teams but his time I also learnt about the procurement process from an industry perspective, as well as from the perspective of a “Customer Friend” role.

Having been employed with the Bristol firm for a while, in 2006 I established A J S Support Limited to continue to deliver support to both MoD and Industry Defence Equipment customers and to look to diversify for the survival of the company.

Since establishing the company we have developed additional services based business support for information systems and remote deployment of aerial sensors. The later has had me learn new skills in order to achieve CAA approval to operate small unmanned air systems.

We are a small family firm that prides its self on providing a personal, professional, value for money and customer focused support service. We support customers with difficult requirements and challenging time scales to help them deliver what they need and when they need it.
